MYXOMATOSIS

Myxomatosis

Every year we see myxomatosis in pet rabbits. It is a fatal viral disease that starts with a swollen face and eyes, ears and bottom. It is progressively fatal and there is no cure. It is spread by insects such as mosquitoes and rabbit fleas. As most gardens around here are reasonably close to parks/scrub/wasteland/farmland most pet rabbits we serve are at risk.

But......it is preventable! One simple vaccination a year protects most rabbits, and there is a licensed insecticide as well for rabbits.

Sadly we have seen many cases in September, continuing still into October. Your rabbit is at high risk unless vaccinated. Phone us today to book this simple measure to protect your bunny.
