Meet our Reception Staff

 

Jane Broughton

Jane Broughton

Jane has been our Reception Manager since 1998 and has been part of the Ashfield House front team for over 16 years. At the moment, Jane also deals with all our insurance claims.

Jane's interests outside of work vary from crystal healing, Angel card reading, ordinary reading to caravanning with her family. They are always joined by Wesley - their young Jack Russell Terrier but Charlie the cat stays at home.

 

 

Deb Cumming

Deb Cumming

Deb has been a receptionist with us since 2002. Before that she worked with children so she is the First Aider of the practice and she organises the Christmas party for us each year. (We have a countdown to Christmas starting in the Spring at Ashfield House!)

Deb has 2 cats and 2 gerbils at home. She is happy to help out with a bit of veterinary nursing if needed.

 

 

Jo-Anne Howitt

Jo-Anne Howitt

Jo is our Deputy Reception Manager. She has been with us since 2000 and is qualified up to Level 2 in British Sign Language. Jo is available on reception Monday – Thursday 9--12.30 and from June 1st, she will be available on a Friday afternoon.

Outside of work Jo has 3 children, 3 cats called 'Limey, Tinky and Pearl', 6 royal pythons called 'Venus, Yorkie, Johnny 5, Jovi, Pye, Bo', and 1 corn snake called 'Kebab' - See her pets under practice pets.

Jo's hobbies include swimming, walking and motor racing.

 

 

Julie Banks

Julie Banks

Julie has worked at the practice as a Receptionist since 2005. She owns 3 dogs - one that is recently adopted from the local RSPCA.

Julie makes frequent visits to her holiday home in France which ties in well with her love of red wine, reading, walking and football (Nottingham Forest of course).

 

 

 

Rebecca Kenny

Becky has been running our Bramcote Clinic since May 2007.
In this time she has gained a number of Animal care qualifications -

NVQ Level 2 Veterinary Care Assistant, NVQ Level 2 Wildlife Rescue, Care and Rehabilitation, student member of the Institute of Animal Care Education, student Fellow of The Zoological society of London, Hills Veterinary Nutritional Advisor, Purina Pro-Plan Nutritional Specialist, and qualified Pet Plan insurance Advisor

 
Becky is now studying an Advanced Diploma in Marine Zoology, a
nd will be training hands on with a Pod of Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins and California Sea lions for several weeks in 2011 at The Dolphin Research Centre in the Florida Keys.
Becky owns 3 Beagles - Freddie, Joey and Gracie along with a rescue tortoise called Lilly.

 

Sam Whitney

Sam Whitney

Sam started working as a receptionist at Ashfield House in September 2002. She is our Saturday receptionist and has 2 dogs - Oscar and Paddy; and 2 Rex rabbits Roobarb and Neelee.

Sam also started her own business Safe and Sound Pet Sitters in August 2007.

 

 

Ann Beatson

Ann Beatson

Ann joined the practice in January 2009 as a weekday Receptionist. It is her first job as a Receptionist as Ann was previously self-employed for 23 years, she was the PA for a lady with MS and she worked for a local travel company.

Ann has 4 pets who apparently all sit together happily in the lounge. Barney is an old black Labrador who attends our weight clinics; Monty is a young Lab/Spaniel who looks nothing like either breed; there is Sophie the cat and Angel the rabbit who is quite at home with them all!

Sophie Cotton

Sophie started working on reception part time in November 2007. She lives on a farm with a pony called Leo and two dogs - Bob and Poppy.

Sophie is due to go travelling for a few months and we wish her all the best and look forward to her return to Ashfield House.

 

 

 

 

Katie Stephens

Katie Stephens

Katie came to 'see practice' at Ashfield House as a work experience student, but has stayed as one of our Saturday morning receptionists. Katie is currently studying Animal Science at Nottingham University and just finished her first year.

She is a trained Petplan insurance advisor.
Katie is also a 'Stemnet Ambassador' which entails teaching and encouraging school children of any age to become involved in sciences, engineering technology and maths. She is also a certified marine mammal medic for the BDMLR- British Divers Marine Life Rescue

Katie's hobbies include horse riding and all sport.

 

Caroline Gant

Caroline Gant

Caroline joined the Spondon team as a Receptionist in September 2008. Prior to working for us, Caroline worked as an Accountant. Her love of animals meant a change of career path for her.

She has one cat at home called Cleo and we are sure that, like most of our staff, she will acquire another pet.

Jackie Woodward

Jackie has worked at the Byron Veterinary Clinic since 1993. She works as a receptionist, but also deals with insurance claims and administration in the office at the Nottingham branch. Jackie has 1 cat called Boston that she recently took on after a very bad road traffic accident.
