Here at Ashfield House, we are looking for a wonderful full-time RVN to join our nursing team, affectionately known as ‘Gang Green.’

Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice based in Nottingham and Derby. We have been offering personal care for our clients and their pets for over 35 years and enjoy an established reputation of excellence in all aspects of Veterinary medicine.

We are a busy, well equipped, small animal hospital with a great work ethic and working atmosphere. The practice has a very competent nursing team, as well as a friendly and experienced reception team, which helps make the practice run as smoothly as possible. Our team of Vets include certificate holders in Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medicine, Imaging, and Dermatology.

About the Role:

  • 40-hour week with flexibility on varying shifts covering theatre, nursing hospital patients, consulting, lab work & general nursing
  • 1 in 6 weekends (Sat & Sun 8-6) with fellow RVN & Nursing Assistant support, two days off in following week
  • No OOH as dedicated night team
  • Bank Holidays covered on a volunteer basis.

We have an exciting opportunity for a wonderful Nursing Assistant to join our team at 
Ashfield House.

The Role
• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm – including one in four 
Sundays with day off the following week.
• Nursing hospital patients, branch work, lab work & general nursing.
• Ability to work as part of a team. 
• Ability to work with and safely handle and restrain a variety of animals. 
• Proactively assist with the running of the day, setting up kennels, cleaning theatre etc.
• Assist with provision of basic nursing care, including encouragement to eat, grooming, cleaning and bathing animals, walking/toileting dogs and cleaning litter trays. 
• Undertake cleaning of theatre, laboratory area, kennels, cattery, dental, 
consulting rooms and reception area, following correct protocols. 
• Running of laboratory tests (eg: blood and urine samples). 
• Accurate recording of information regarding tests performed, including packaging of samples to be sent externally. 
• Recording temperatures, heart and respiratory rate of patients. 
• Empathetically assisting with euthanasia consultations. 
• Meticulous processing of information and bodies of euthanised patients. 
• Cleaning, packing and autoclaving of surgical kits. 
• Washing bedding 
• Reception duties, including answering telephones, booking appointments and registering new clients. 
• Assistance with “puppy parties” maybe required. 
• Effectively communicate with clients about the pet healthcare plan.
• Understanding the limitations of this role, including restrictions regarding administration of medications, IV catheters etc.
• No OOH as dedicated night team.
• Bank Holidays covered on a volunteer basis.
• Salary ranging from £17,888 to £24,440 based on experience and knowledge.

over four decades and pride ourselves on the service we provide to our local 
community covering the Derby/Nottingham area.
The Role
• 40-hour week with flexibility on varying shifts covering theatre, nursing hospital 
patients, consulting, lab work & general nursing.
• 1 in 7 weekends (sat & sun 8-6) with fellow RVN & Nursing Assistant support, two 
days off in following week
• No OOH as dedicated night team.
• Bank Holidays covered on a volunteer basis.
• Busy hospital with a varied case load both medically & surgically.
• Salary ranging from £26,000 to £33,000 based on experience and knowledge.
