Ben graduated with honours from the University of Liverpool in 2007 and joined Byron Vets in the same year after some voluntary work in the Philippines.

When Byron Vets was acquired by Ashfield House Vets, he became part of the larger team and is now one of the Clinical Directors of the practice since 2018.

He gained his BSAVA Postgraduate  Ophthalmology Certificate in 2016 with distinction and subsequently went on the become an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Ophthalmology, seeing internal referrals and second opinion cases from many practices in the area.

He works at both the Byron branch and main hospital in Long Eaton. In 2020 Ben was a finalist in both the Petplan Vet of the Year and VetPartners Vet of the Year awards.

Ben and his partner have one lurcher and two boys which occupy him outside of work. But when he does get a spare minute, Ben enjoys playing badminton and travelling across the globe to remote destinations to partake in his underwater photography passion.

Katherine graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2007 and has worked at Ashfield House ever since. She completed her certificaten in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) in 2017 focusing on the surgical modules. She was made a clinical director in 2018.

She has one lurcher called Wren and enjoys walking them with her husband Matt and their two gorgeous little sons.

She also enjoys pilates and spending time with family and friends and her 8 wonderful nieces and nephews.

Jade graduated in 2006 from the University of Liverpool and is part of the senior vet team working at Ashfield House since 2011. Jade gained her European Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2016, and her main role within the practice is soft tissue surgery and some orthopaedics. She has a special interest in oncological surgery and brachycephalic airway surgery. She has spearheaded our new laparoscopy service commencing in May 2021 and is hoping to expand this service in the future. In her spare time Jade is a keen gardener and enjoys cultivating her vegetable patch. She enjoys walking her dog Rocket, and family days out with her partner and sons. Jade enjoys film and cinema, plays the piano and is an advanced scuba diver.

Claudine is part of the senior vet team, she graduated with distinction from the University of Bristol and has been working at Ashfield House ever since.

She is mainly based at the Bramcote branch, but also works at the Long Eaton hospital and the Byron branch practice throughout the week.

She has a keen interest in medicine, and in December 2018 gained the BSAVA Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine with Distinction. She became an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Medicine in 2019.

She has a soft spot for older animals, especially senior cats!

She owns two mischievous Devon Rex cats called Roo & Sprout who constantly cause chaos!

After graduating from the University of Edinburgh, and having spent some time studying at Colorado State University, Charlotte moved to Ashfield House to join our team. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has started a post graduate certificate in dermatology.

Charlotte runs our acupuncture clinics both at our Long Eaton Hospital and our Spondon clinic.

When she is not running around the hospital Charlotte likes to stay active. She plays the clarinet and saxophone and very rarely stops singing. She also loves to travel, play netball, scuba dive and has recently started climbing again.

When not doing these she can be found running around with her black Labrador Archie, desperately trying to tire him out before bedtime!

Joanna graduated from Bristol University in 2018 and joined Ashfield in March 2020. She has a keen interest in Surgery and spends her time working at the Long Eaton hospital and Bramcote clinic.

She has 3 very spoiled cats who like to cause chaos, loves to travel and is a scuba diving instructor.

Stuart is part of the senior vet team. He graduated from the University of Liverpool 2003. After a few years away from Ashfield House, we are pleased to welcome him back.

Early in his career he developed an interest in anaesthesia and working as a clinical anaesthetist at the University of Liverpool, achieved his RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 2008.

He has completed a post graduate certificate in Anaesthesia and Small Animal Surgery and is currently working towards another certificate in diagnostic imaging. Over the last 6 years he has gained considerable experience in laparoscopic neutering, and alongside other trained vets we are pleased to offer this service at Ashfield House.

He is married to a paediatric anaesthetist called Joy and is a proud dad to their child Max.

While not working, he enjoys travelling, reading books and catching up with friends, when not entertaining is disobedient cocker spaniel Twizzle.

Paola graduated from Bologna University (Italy) in 2011 and worked there for 5 years before moving to the UK in 2016. She has started studying towards a post graduate certificate in endoscopy and endosurgery.

She is interested in dentistry having worked in a veterinary dental practice in Italy for a year, and has always been interested in wildlife and exotic pet medicine.

Paola particularly enjoyed helping the vet in charge of the second biggest collection of seahorses in the world when she was a student.

When not at work, Paola loves to cook for her family and is looking forward to next spring where she will become a bee-keeper in her spare time.

Emma-Jayne Bailey qualified in 2018 from Harper Adams University with a Bachelor of Science degree with honours, in Veterinary Physiotherapy.  She is not a vet, but we are proud to include her in our professional team.

She currently provides a bespoke physiotherapy service tailored to the individual, whether it be for performance enhancement, or management of acute or chronic diseases, ranging from osteoarthritis to post-operative care of cruciate surgery.

She sees both cats and dogs, and can provide home visits as part of the service as well.

Timothy graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2021. He stayed for another year to complete an education internship, gaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education and Fellow to the HEA (FHEA) in 2022.

His clinical interests include all aspects of Veterinary Anaesthesia, Pain Management and Veterinary Education. Outside of work, Tim can be found on the fencing piste or watching other sports, particularly football.

Rob joined the team in 2022 after graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2018. He mainly works at the Bramcote branch but also at the Long Eaton hospital.

At home he is kept busy by his whippet and cat, Twiglet and Eleanor. Rob is currently studying for a post graduate diploma in Epidemiology. Any other spare time is usually spent watching or playing football.

Chloe graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2019, and is originally from San Diego, California. She worked at a practice back in California for a few years before joining the Ashfield team in 2023. She has particular interests in internal medicine, dermatology, and pain management. Outside of work she and her partner enjoy walking their Pembroke Welsh Corgi called Seymour in the English countryside, traveling, and going to gigs. They also have two cats - Macadamia and Bandit, who love to cause mischief!

Kara graduated from the University of Nottingham in July 2022 and decided to stay in the East Midlands. She joined Ashfield House in October, a few months later, to begin her veterinary career. She is a keen advocate for all small animals and has two guinea-pigs of her own, called Crumpet and Tiffin. When not at the busy Long Eaton Hospital, she enjoys cooking, painting, running and spending time with friends.
 

Torral graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2019. After working in Norfolk for 2.5 years she decided to move back to Nottingham and joined our team in February 2023. Torral works mainly at the Long Eaton Hospital and enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine. In her spare time she enjoys playing the harp, cooking and travelling.

Ailsa graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013. She joined Ashfield House in 2021 as an out of hours locum covering bank holidays, weekends and nights. In 2024 she joined our permanent team as a clinical director. She enjoys all aspects of clinical work - both surgery and medicine. Outside of work, Ailsa prioritises family life with her young family. She has an elderly cat named Lucky, and enjoys sewing, crochet and cooking.

I graduated in 2019 from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. After working one year in a rural veterinary setting in Mpumalanga, I shipped myself north to work in the UK in the beginning of 2020. I joined Ashfield House in May 2022 as part of the night team at the Long Eaton Hospital.

I am thoroughly enjoying the differing caseload that nights have to offer, and am busy completing a foundation certificate in emergency and critical care.

I have one large thug of a cat called Professor Alastor Moody – aka Mad-eye Moody. He is currently ruling over my family’s home in South Africa, and yes – only has one eye.
